16a — Jesus as a Boy (Bible Study & Word Search)

Tell Me More About Jesus as a Boy —

What was Jesus like as a boy? What did he do? Where did he play? Did he have to go to school? What would it have been like to have Jesus for a friend?

Although the Bible does not record many details about Jesus as a boy, the facts it does reveal combined with documented Jewish history and culture of the first century shed light on what his life was like in those early years.

When you are done, select a birthday text or guardian promise like Jesus would have done as a boy. A birthday text is a Bible verse you choose as a personal promise from God that has a main word beginning with the same letter as your name. The word can be the first, last, or main thought in the verse.

For instance, my first name is Susan. The verse I chose is Psalm 18:35, because the word “sustains” is a main thought and begins with the same first 3 letters as my name. I found the verse by looking up “S” words in the concordance in the back of my Bible.

You give me your shield of victory,
and your right hand sustains me;
you stoop down to make me great. Psalm 18:35

This verse has become my personal guardian promise from God that I claim in my prayers to him.

My Prayer

Dearest Father, Thank you that your Son, Jesus, came to live among us — that he grew up just like we do in a real place, with real responsibilities, hardships, and joys. Thank you for sending him to us. May I get to know him better and strive to be like him in all I do. Amen.
