51c — Observing the Sabbath (Exodus 20:8-11)
How Christians Observe the Sabbath —
The Sabbath is a gift from God to all people as a day of rest after the work and worries of the normal week. It is a pause — a time for people to rejoice in their completed work, to remember the example of their Creator, and to refuel their energy for the week ahead through rest, worship, and fellowship. Whereas the Sabbath is actually the seventh day (Saturday), most Christians observe the principle of Sabbath rest on Sunday (the first day of the week) in honor of Jesus’ resurrection.
Listen to Katie from the Daily Grace Channel as she lists 5 ways that Christians can successfully honor God’s command and remember to take a special day of rest.
My Prayer
Dearest Father, You took one day of rest after your week of creating the world. You ask us to follow your example. Thank you for giving us this privilege of peaceful rest. Amen.
