5a — Hallowed Word Games

The Meaning of Hallowed —

My husband Keith and I enjoy taking road trips.

A special one in 2013 was to the mountains of West Virginia to learn about trains.

To pass the time when we travel, we sometimes play word games, like this one:

Think of things in the world that can be called hallowed.

Hallowed = Something so special that it is set apart
from everything else as superior.

These are things we thought of:

And the most hallowed of all — The One and Only Name of the Almighty God.

In order to better understand the meaning of hallowed, fill in the following acrostic with words that begin with each of the bold letters. (If you need help, the words are found in the prayer below.)

H = Highly respected and  __ __ __ __

A = Adored  __ __ __ __ __    __ __ __

L = __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __  awesome

L = Loved without  __ __ __ __ __

O = __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __  of common

W = __ __ __ __ __ __

E = __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

D = __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __  set apart

My Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name! May I treat your name with the high respect it deserves, because you are worthy and literally awesome. May I never treat your name as if it is ordinary, because you are the opposite of common — you are extraordinary. May I love you without limit and adore you above all others, because you are holy and definitely set apart for praise. I humbly bow my whole self before YOU. Amen.
