Dearest Father, Thank you that your words give direction to life the same way a light reveals the way down a dark path. Just like Jesus, help me to know your Word and use it as a guide in my daily decisions — so that I may remain faithful to you and your ways. Amen.
Suggested Activity
Memorize one passage of God’s Word each week by using this simple method.
1) Select a Bible verse. Write out the words on one side of a 3×5 card and the Bible reference on the other.
2) For a week, spend 5 minutes each day committing it to memory.
3) Punch a hole in the corner of the card and put it on a caribbeaner.
4) Once a week, flip through your cards and recite all your memorized verses.
Consider beginning with the three verses Jesus quoted to resist the temptations of Satan in Matthew 4:4, 7, 10. He took these verses from Deuteronomy 8:3; 6:16; 6:13.
