I Am the Lord Your God Who Brought You Out of Egypt —

The Jews refer to the Ten Commandments as the Ten Statements, with the first statement being “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” These opening words in Exodus 20 explain why God claims the right to require that the rest of his statements or commands be learned and obeyed.

Dearest Father, You are incredible! It was not by movie magic or special effects that you delivered your people out of slavery, but by the power of your Word and being. Thank you for your faithful acts on behalf of those who love you. Please help me to show you my love and gratitude by obeying your amazing Ten Statements. Amen.
