The Spiritual Boomerang Principle —

What is the gift from God that we must give away if we want to keep it? Sounds like a boomerang riddle, right? But the answer is obvious. It’s forgiveness.

Jesus himself taught this incredible boomerang principle in Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV):

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

My Prayer

Dearest Father, I want to use the boomerang principle of forgiveness in my life. I want to give away forgiveness just as freely as I expect to receive it back from you. I know forgiveness is a hard skill to learn — especially because each new opportunity to forgive can be harder than the last. But I want to be like you in this area, so please help me to get better and better at giving away forgiveness. Thank you. Amen.
