Honor Your Father and Your Mother —

Valuing and showing respect to those who are in authority over us is one of the most important skills a person can learn. That is why God includes a promise of well being in this commandment. When we obey his command to honor our parents, it is like being handed a boomerang blessing that returns happiness, balance, and peace to our lives. A built-in bonus — how great!

My Prayer

Dearest Father, Thank you for my parents and/or guardians. May I value them and show them the respect I desire to be shown. Please help them grow in their ability to love and guide me. Please help me grow in my ability to follow through on their instructions with an eager and willing heart. Thank you for blessing me as I obey this important command. Amen.
